Today's class was a check-up session. The progress that I had made on my Carcassi piece was not satisfactory to me and I was having difficulties in executing a simultaneous pluck and golpe for my Tangos piece.
Take-aways from today's lesson:
- Dale told me to continue at my own pace. "It's a study," he said "and this is the more challenging half of your studies." Flamenco is my easy half.
- The fingerings of Rey de la Torre were chosen to give the hand an 'escape' and to improve the piece's phrasing. It's still too early to explore the phrasing. Focus on getting the fingerings right.
- To do a simultaneous pluck and golpe, do the golpe first and the pluck second. Then gradually reduce the gap between the golpe and the pluck. This applies for measures 4 and 8 of the Tangos.
- Finish the Tangos at my pace.
- No issues with the fingerings and execution were correct for RH and LH.
- Dale will 'humor me' and allow me to do the Fandangos de Alosno next. He warned me however that some flamenco troupes don't care that much for this fandangos.
