Small Achievement: Completed Level 1 of Sight Reading

This evening, I completed Level 1 of my sight-reading book. I'm targeting completion of Level 2 in one 4-5 weeks; taking into account possible inefficiencies in my study time and an intention to learn thoroughly.

Level 1 simply covers one octave on the first three strings. It's very elementary. Level 2 introduces the bass strings. So, nineteen months after I started learning guitar, I can sight-read three strings up to the 3rd fret.

Whoopee.

Yes, it feels a little frustrating that my sight reading skills lag my technique. That's what happens when you depend too much on tablature. I just need to keep moving forward. I'll close the gap sooner rather than later if I just focus on practicing rather than on my frustration.

Inspiring Quote
This quote came from Malcolm Gladwell today on CNN. He's the author of The Tipping Point, Blink, and Outliers.

"Talent is the desire to practice."

Scale Of the Week: F Major
Will be practicing the F Major scale this week. "B" is played flat. Need to ask Dale why it is called the F Major scale.
